TODAY: What’s rally worth blogging about

0305VOL024_m.jpgNetizens get active in their blogs about the election – and even upload rally clips

THE Labour Day break made for good (blog) reading, what with the election rallies out in full swing, taking advantage of the long weekend just before Saturday’s polling.

But I qualify “good” reading here with blogs. You have to sift out the information you want from blog posts that swing from one topic to another.

Blogger “esotism’s” entry about the elections has a typically off-topic paragraph. “I can’t believe that Fiona Xie (who lip-synched her way through a Vivian Hsu cover with three other MediaCorp lip-synchers) made it the front page of the papers for the Labour Day concert, instead of Stephanie Sun, who was easily the best performer of the evening,” he griped.

Swing low, sweet lorry-iot

Prison Got No Broadband
Thank you Uber Mommy, for the pic.

Today, a lorry belonging to, or being rented by, a political party drove by our our office several times in an effort to swing my vote. Too bad I don’t live in this area, and too bad I don’t get to vote this year anyway. Else I might have been swung, y’know?

Remember, prison got no broadband!

No content during election time

So, today’s Nomination Day, and again, I don’t have to vote. Dang! Now I really have to find something to do on the 6th.

TODAY: Buzz remains for hustings

“Remember! Prison got no broadband!”

2704VOL024_m.jpgPoliticians have stopped blogging but netizens continue to give their takes on next month’s elections

SO IT seems you can blog about politics during the election period except when your website has “persistently political views”.

But Workers’ Party member Goh Meng Seng is taking no chances as he stopped blogging after his entry on April 19. His blog, Singapore Alternatives, “is about the political struggle” he is “engaging in”.

Eh? No ban on podcasts?

Update: The CNA news article seems to have been yanked off. Wonder what happened. But no worry, it’s still on Yahoo! as well as mrbrown’s.

Apparently Channel Newsasia can podcast and videocast bloggers’ coverage of the elections during this, the election period. We’ve always known that mr brown’s and my slogan for this month, ‘Remember, Prison Got No Broadband’, doesn’t apply to our nation’s premier news network, nor to our nation’s finest newspapers.

The blurb on CNA’s website says that bloggers Farid Johari and Au Yong May Lin will be “uploading their clips to the Channel Newsasia website instantaneously”.

Instantaneously, you know? Like, damned fast like that. It also helps that the bloggers work for CNA. For bloggers who don’t work for CNA, ST, TNP and TODAY (eh? I also leh…) you could try sending your clips to SGRally, which is not a car-racing site.

Cheongsam
Ceci n’est pas un political slogan
