One of the great things about Naomi being pregnant is that we’re really enjoying our food. I mean, really enjoying our food.
Yes, we know that we have to make the calories count and not overeat and all that, but this eating (properly) for two thing has given our kitchen a new purpose, a new energy. Except when it comes to cleaning up. I dunno where the energy goes when it’s time for doing the dishes.
We’re also enjoying nice quiet places for meals – like Simply Bread at Cluny Court. It’s quiet and nice during mid mornings – and we hope it doesn’t stay too quiet such that they have to shut down because of it, which is why I’m plugging it a little so’s you can go and enjoy a light meal there too.
Of course, the breads are lovely. And we’ve been buying the $6.50 loaves called Rustic Wholemeal to make our sandwiches and toasts at home.
It takes a while to assemble our giant “club” sandwiches, which consist of bread of course (which has to be toasted) and avocado, chicken (which have to be grilled), bacon (which has to be crisped), hard boiled egg (which has to be…), cilantro, butter, mayonnaise and I think that’s it. But, yeah, it takes a while.
It’s worth the wait, and it’s currently our favourite sandwich – so much that we think you should go and try fixing yourselves one some time too.
A tip though – make more of the ingredients so’s you can keep them in the fridge and then assemble when you want to eat.
