Instant buffalo – just add water
These strange-looking things are called caltrops, and can be found in most supermarkets here, and in the case of the Cold Storage at Chancery Court, in a bin next to the pumpkin bin.

…and so must be good to eat.
Apparently, you boil them for several hours, and then crack them open with a hammer and try to eat the shards. Which taste a bit like chestnuts. I dunno. I didn’t buy them.
