LEFT: Singa The Courtesy Lion; RIGHT: Glenn Campbell
When I was a kid, I didn’t know what a rhinestone was, but there was a song that kept playing on the radio that made me sing along, with much gusto, that I was a Limestone Cowboy.
That, and that infernal Neil Diamond song that went “Song song blue everybody no-one, sung sung blue everybody no-one.”
So, for some related reason, it warms the cockles of my heart to discover that one of the two campaign songs for the National Courtesy Campaign (1979-2000) is Glenn Campbell’s “Try A Little Kindness”:
…And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets…
Goddamn, LTA, what are you doing about these narrow-minded streets?!
