They really mean it when they say ‘this is the late news’

Freedom Flask Award
For bloggers who kenah asked to take down more than 10 posts

Over at our regional (and some say almost global) news network, a story broke yesterday about A-asterix-STAR sending a warning letter to a student.

On Wednesday, Channel NewsAsia broke a story about how the Singapore student, who is pursuing his Masters degree in the United States, shut down his blog after he was threatened with legal action…

Broke a story indeed. Channel NewsLATER! Many people covered it already! Including Reporters sans Clue. One week is a very, very long time in cyberspace. (If CNL had waited a little more they might miss RSC wanting to give the closed down blog an award – the Freedom Flask.)

The other thing of note is, if a coupla emails and a letter gets a blogger to close down his blog, what if you got a writ of summons? Habis lah? Close blog, close shop, close house?

This award also can

the point of contention in a*star & he-who-must-not-be-named’s so-called e-mail threats to acidflask lies in what they unilaterally believe to be defamatory statements. as such, acidflask actually need not close down his blog – a mere removal of the supposedly-defamatory-posts would suffice. an apology in place of the original post is also unnecessary since the contents of the post-under-scrutiny had already been removed.
i certainly hope that caustic.soda will be up and running again in a few weeks time – after he finish his exams & sorting out (or possibly deleting) the he-who-must-not-be-named posts.

CM koh, your he-who-must-not-be-named is hilarious haha. Well maybe Acid closed coz he just wanted to take a big break or to avoid leaving it on so that “he” or others would go reading in his achives for even more dirt. Understandable. I’m sure if he really wanted to revive it, he could. I wish him well.

BTW I believe when M*diacorp says “Breaking the news” it is in the same vein as their trailers saying “the TV Premiere of…” (insert name of show which is already shown on cable sometimes years ago). ;P

I think A*Star and “that head honcho” helped acid flask gets his message across to more people. LOL.

They should have left him alone.

Now everyone is dying to find out what Acid wrote.

Ok. I don’t know whether I’m early or late here, but I just found out Bubblemunche has committed blogicide.

*shock* *horror* One of my fave bloggers has disappeared, and didn’t give a reason either!

Maybe these lawsuit thingies are stretching further than we thought. =x

the breaking of news is like the way the tv stations used to proclaim “exclusive” or “first in singapore” for shows that were already shown on cable for many months.

i remembered there was another issue with a “remote island” country and china that a certain leader offended. Worldwide news reported it for more than 1 week before it was in the national paper.
